Kelso Rotary 2007-2008

Club Goals

Membership

  • To increase the membership in Kelso Rotary by 5% of the total of members as of June 30, 2007, with the new members being people who are dedicated to service in Rotary. This will be done in part by encouraging current members to recruit new members within the community, identifying new people moving to the community and recruiting those people and formally acknowledging those members who bring in new members.
  • Actively get those new members involved in club activities. Assign new members to participate on committees. Focus on membership retention and satisfaction.

Service Projects

  • Duck Race – Sell 6,000 tickets to the race.
  • Food Wagon – Continue to use the food wagon to promote fellowship and raise funds for the club.
  • Human Services – Follow committee recommendations to donate $6,000 to programs that support local youth and community needs.
  • Walk & Knock – Participate in the collection of food from the local community to the area food bank.
  • Small Club Projects – Identify two small projects for club participation.
  • Adopt-a-Highway – Provide quarterly cleanup of Huntington Avenue.
  • Park Development – Continue to monitor and report (at least quarterly) on the progress of the City of Kelso in obtaining funding for the skate park at Rotary Park. Continue to keep the remaining $26,100 in foundation funds committed to construction on this project.
  • Bell Ringing – Operate at least two sites in one day for the Salvation Army (bell ringing for raising funds for Christmas).

Youth Services

  • Sponsor two students to Rotary Youth Leadership Academy.
  • Award vocational and merit scholarships in amount of $10,000.
  • Identify with the support of Kelso High School a student of the month each month from that high school and recognize him/her at a regular club meeting.

Rotary Foundation

  • Contribute an average of $100 per active member to Rotary International.
  • Promote annual giving by suggesting a donation amount on the dues statement.
  • Increase the number of sustaining members to Rotary International by 5% (club participation).
  • Acknowledge five new Paul Harris Fellows.
  • Host an incoming exchange student with a Rotary host family for 07-08.
  • Continue to support the International Water Project in partnership with other local clubs.

Public Relations

  • Publish at least two news stories about club activities.
  • Use various media for promoting Rotary (at least two).
  • Further educate our membership regarding Rotary.

Club Administration

  • Implement anything that may be more fun for meetings; and have interesting and educational meetings.
  • Coordinate at least two club assemblies during the year to focus on membership.
  • Continue to have the Kelso School District publish the Rotary newsletter for distribution bimonthly.
  • Have the attendance reflect true attendance numbers, not to include members who no longer participate or pay dues.
  • Carry out one fellowship gathering outside of normal meeting time to include spouses of Rotarians.
  • Assure that the President-Elect is signed up for and attends PETS and District Leadership Training Assembly.
  • Encourage attendance and pay registration fee for any member attending District Conference or District Leadership Training Assembly.
